Upper East Side
INTERIOR RENOVATION
LEXINGTON AVENUE, NEW YORK
At the top of an Upper East Side high rise, this project involved expanding an apartment to connect two separate levels. Our solution was to use the steel and oak stairs as a screen to separate the living and dining areas from the kitchen. The stairs also connect the public areas to a private study on the bedroom level above.
Stairs are one of our favorite architectural elements to design. They provide an opportunity to explore not only form and circulation, but material, structure, and detail.
