West End Avenue
INTERIOR RENOVATION
UPPER WEST SIDE
This project involved the full renovation of a 1,600 square foot 2 bedroom apartment in a pre-war coop on the Upper West Side. The design opened the interior of the apartment and developed a system of millwork to run throughout to function as kitchen cabinetry, wall paneling, a library system, and media storage.
The original pre-war ceiling crown was maintained and replicated to define the rooms and conceal ductwork for a new central air conditioning system. The library included a concealed Murphy bed and hidden sliding panels for use as a second bedroom.
The strong forms and character of the millwork organized the interior spaces and disguised the adaptability of its layout.
